February 06 New for 2008It is well into 2008 and I have been working on new work for my first US show that opens in Florida on February 21st. Please see the photo galleries to see some of these pieces.
This year I am thrilled to be joining the long-standing Beyond the Valley Studio Tour in Dundas, Ontario as a guest at Richard Fisher's studio May 31 - June 1st. I will also be part of the Southwest Artists Studio Tour in my neighbourhood on the Mother's Day weekend - May 10-11th.
I have been designing new pieces to add to my line of contemporary utilitarian ware. This includes serving sets featuring white porcelain vessels on stands made of the chocolate brown earthenware. Please contact me if you wish to stop by the studio to see what is available. October 29 Welcome FallIt is fall ... a time for creativity and many shows leading up to the holiday season. This year is no exception and is busier than last year.
I am in a wonderful local show at the Carnegie Gallery in Dundas. Please see my image gallery for a sneak preview of the pieces I made for the Out of the Past, Into the Future Exhibition. I selected a Victorian Memorial Wreath as my inspirational piece and made a living memorial to my gram Franco who was born in 1898 and will be turning 109 in just a few weeks. My "wreath", made all in clay, includes elements that remind myself and my family of our dear grandmother and mother - gnocchi, yarn, playing cards, wine bottles, tomatoes, beans and other things from the garden she grew, cat tags, popsicle sticks, roses as well as pressings in clay I took from the family home on Bay Street in Hamilton. I hope you come out to see it. The opening is November 2nd from 7 to 10pm at the Carnegie Gallery and Dundas Museum. My pieces will be at the Carnegie as will I.
My first annual open house is coming up in a few weeks. I will have functional pottery and decorative ceramic pieces for sale. I will also be selling cards with illustrations from Rocco Baviera and Colleen O-Hara to help you round out your holiday purchases. The open house is on November 17th to 18th from 10am to 3pm both days. I hope to see you there.
As always if you have a question please email or phone me.
Happy fall!
Tara July 23 Summer in the Studio It continues to be a wonderful summer filled with much creativity in the studio. The Toronto Outdoor Exhibition was a great success. I met many wonderful people and engaged in great dialogue about my work. I am busy in the studio continuing to build on my line of utilitarian ware and preparing for a busy fall of shows and exhibitions. Please call and come by for a visit if you are in the area this summer. June 04 Spring and Summer SeasonIt has already been an exciting spring and summer season. I just spent the weekend at the Guelph Pottery Festival - a wonderful event in the Historic Goldie Mill.
I recently launched my new line of functional work in porcelain. I will be adding to the collection in the upcoming months.
June is a busy month for shows with two at Distill Gallery. Another Blooming Show running now and the Distill Cup starting mid month. I will be attending the opening on the 14th. I hope to see you there.
I am now preparing for my first time at the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition - July 6 - 8th. I am in Orange 417. I am making new work for this exciting event.
Back to the clay ...
